I used to have a tree service, while in school getting my engineering degree, and then part-time thereafter. I’m out of it now because my business has me overwhelmed. I was always conscientious about following ISA recommendations for pruning, though I was never certified. In my neighborhood of Caruth Terrace, I jealously guarded my neighbor’s trees, and tried to educate about the common malpractices of over-pruning, lion-tailing, and pruning red oaks while Oak Wilt was active.
My neighbor at 6122 Woodcrest just had her Shumard pruned, and when your crew arrived, I braced for the worst. I was pleasantly surprised. Your crew practice restraint and good judgment, only pruning where necessary, placing their cuts at the proper point on the branch collars, and choosing new terminal leaders that were at least 1/3 the diameter of the pruned leaders.
As many neighbors have asked me who I would recommend since I left the tree business, I wrote up a recommendation for you in our NextDoor list serve, which will be taken seriously by the resident of Caruth Terrace. I had previously recommended Moore, but as I know you are substantially less expensive, I will now be recommending you.
