We would like to remind our network and community about a few tree tips for June!
To care for trees in June, prioritize watering, especially for younger or newly planted trees. Deep watering and mulching can help maintain soil moisture. Also, consider sun protection for young trees, especially those that are susceptible to sunburn.• Watering: Trees, especially young ones, need regular watering, especially in the summer. Deep watering, which means soaking the soil thoroughly, encourages deep root growth and makes the tree more resilient. Canopy.org suggests checking soil moisture by digging 4-6 inches down to see if it’s moist but not wet.
• Mulching: Mulching around the base of the tree helps retain moisture, regulates soil temperature, and suppresses weed growth. Apply a 2-4 inch layer of mulch, keeping it several inches away from the trunk to prevent disease. Smart Pot suggests a doughnut shape around the tree.
• Sun Protection: Young trees, particularly citrus, can be susceptible to sunburn. Protect the trunk with a tree wrap or other protective measure.
• Pruning: While pruning in summer is generally not recommended for most trees, removing dead or broken limbs is important for overall health.
• Fertilizing: Fertilizing can help trees thrive, especially during their fruiting or growing season.
Our Tree Wizards team love your support, referrals and positive reviews! Without your reviews….. we would be nothing. Please help us build up our visibility and let others know about your Dallas Tree Doctor on Google!
